Rutger Muller, descendant of Jan Muller

Jan Muller was a shoemaker in Groningen.
His father and grand father were also shoemakers.
Jan Muller soon begins to combine shoemaker with leather trade.
In the marriage certificate (8 Nov 1893) of Dieuwke Postma & Staas Jan Muller the profession of Jan Muller was Leather trader.
Witnesses at the marriage were Djurre Postma (brother Dieuwke), Klaas Muller (brother Staas Jan), Klaas Kool (brother-in-law Dieuwke) and Ebenhaegen van Schoonderloo (no family relation).

Klaas Muller & Staas Jan Muller were the founding fathers of “Firma J. Muller”.
They started the company in 1897.
Staas Jan Muller was married with Dieuwke Postma.
Staas Jan Muller passed away in 1924.
The involvement in the company of this family branch probably stopped after the death of Staas Jan.

In 1952 focus is shifting from shoemaker to shoe retail.
In this year, the Collonil brand is also added to the collection, one of the pillars of the company.

In 1999, an expansion to the Benelux was realized, after which the company name was changed to Frans Muller Benelux BV.
